Today is the start of the annual Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering and the event is the perfect way to spend the end of this week.
Each year the series brings together education and literature for a look into the Wild West through poetry, music, history and culture. The history lesson and musical and poetic entertainment is provided by a group of dedicated poets and musicians who strive to keep the spirit of the American West alive.
This year, the Arizona Cowboy Poets Gathering is taking place at Yavapai College Performing Arts Center. The center provides nine venues for the more than 50 reciters and singers to perform their hearts out, including some world-renowned cowboys.
Tonight, 21st century cowboy philosopher Baxter Black will kick off the festivities with a special fundraiser show featuring his works on his own life experiences. Tomorrow night, Dave Stamey and featured poets and musicians Sam Deleeuw, Don Cadden, Carol Jarvis, Chris Issacs and Doug Figgs will put on an incredible performance! The three days of poetry and music will end Saturday as Belinda Gail with Gail Steiger, Deanna McCall, Elizabeth Ebert, Bill Barwick and Mike Prince close out the event.
Tickets to all of the performances can be purchased through the Yavapai College Performing Arts Center’s website.
We hope you have a rootin’ tootin’ time with these amazing cowboys and cowgirls!
